Not many JUCO fans knew much about San Jacinto College North of Houston, TX until 1985 when the Gators won their first national championship. Now, everyone knows about San Jacinto as the Gators won their fifth title in six years, by shutting out Middle Georgia 5-0 in the finals to finish with a 6-1 tournament record.
MVP
Randy Brown of San Jacinto College North, left little doubt about the most valuable player award. The 5-11, sophomore had: 15 hits, drove in 15 runs, scored 15 runs, hit .455, stole five bases and was voted the best defensive player. Included in the 15 hits, the Houston native blasted three home runs, three doubles and helped lead San Jacinto to a national championship for the fifth time in seven years.
